What is MUN?

When participating in a Model United Nations, each student must assume the role of an ambassador or an international diplomat,  participating in debates as a representative member of the United Nations. He or she must represent his or her country at a conference that simulates those of the real United Nations. These simulations are developed through various committees, each of which specializes in different topics of global concern.

Each student is given a country and a committee for the model. Whatever the situation is, the students' task is to represent and strive to accomplish the best interests for their own countries, while respecting each other’s sovereignty.  At the end of the conference, the committee  makes a decision as to what will be done about the issue being discussed.  This is written in the form of a resolution.
